Book Review: Deadly Intentions

From the Back:

There is no such thing as random
Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. First, a friend and research partner was killed in a home invasion. Three months ago, her boss died in a suspicious car accident. Four days ago, another partner supposedly committed suicide. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Afraid for her life with nowhere to turn, she reaches out to one of the victims' husbands, Detective Josh Solomon.

Though initially skeptical about Caitlyn's theory, Josh soon realizes the attack that took his wife's life was anything but random. Now the two of them must discover the truth about who is after Caitlyn's team--and what their end game is--before it's too late.

My Reflections:
Lisa Harris is known for her intense action infused novels, and her newest title "Deadly Intentions" is by far no exception! I have read so many novels, I am usually pretty good at guessing the "who done it." This book is the exception, readers are taken on a fast-paced ride that refuses to fully stop until the very last pages.
I loved the cadence of this novel. It was intense, yet readers are given little snippets where one can catch their breath. It's in these times where our characters dive a little deeper into interpersonal relationships and faith-building happens.
I enjoyed both Caitlyn and Josh, their characters were true to life and kept me engaged through the entirety of this novel. Caitlyn is one smart lady, but can she use those smarts to survive? With the help of Detective Josh Solomon, they embark on a quest for truth, but will it be too little too late?
Have a free block of time before you start "Deadly Intentions," because once you open the cover you're sucked into the vortex, and it's not letting loose until page 297!

Book Review: A Secret To Die For

From The Back:

Psychologist Grace Callahan has no idea that she has a secret--and a target on her back.

When one of her clients is murdered, Grace quickly realizes that computer security specialist Stephen Shaw wasn't suffering from paranoia. What she doesn't know is that someone believes Shaw gave her a vital piece of information before he died--and they are ready to silence her at any cost. Her only hope may be an old friend, Detective Nate Quinn, who has just been cleared for active duty after a bombing killed his partner and left him dealing with PTSD.

With her signature pulse-pounding suspense, bestselling author Lisa Harris takes you deep into the heart of fear in this race against the clock.
My Reflections:
The air vibrates with tension as you become one with the plot. There a few incredibly written novels that once you crack the spine you are enveloped into the darkness of the pages the smell of the fear. It has you. A Secret to Die For is just that type of novel, It grabbed me at page one.

I love the emulsion of psychologist, detective, terrorist. The mix just hit that sweet spot on this romantic suspense. While there were a few parts where I was like, Nah that's definitely not proper protocol. I'm sure even though detective Quinn knew Grace he would not have been permitted to let her tag along alone together to investigate and talk to family members of the deceased, interview people of interest. Bad things can happen and did. Sigh, saw that coming. That aside, oh how I fell for this novel.
Action packed, with an abundance of unpredictable events made this a thrilling yet slightly disturbing read, I found myself trapped within this story until its completion.

If you are looking for a story to keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat with sweet romantic flair this may be just the book you are looking for!

Book Review: Vanishing Point

From The Back:

Six girls missing . . . and every clue leads to a dead end
During Garrett Addison's first week on the job as a criminal investigator for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, his team is called out to a murder scene of a young girl. She's just one in a string of disappearances with one thing in common--a Polaroid photo of each victim left behind at the crime scene.

The FBI is pulled into the case to help, and Garrett finds himself working with Special Agent Jordan Lambert, the woman he once loved. When yet another girl dies, Garrett wonders whether he really has what it takes to be an agent. Maybe he should just walk. But while he may be done with the killer, the killer is not done with him--or Jordan.
My Review: If you don't get anything else for Christmas, get Lisa Harris's newest novel, Vanishing Point. I'm not usually a massive fan of plots that include kids getting murdered, I would instead leave reality to life. However, that being said this book was written with adrenaline pumping action that kept me up until it was concluded. I have a love-hate relationship with books like these. I love that they hang you out to dry, but I hate the next morning when I need to get out of bed and be a functioning adult!

A word of caution, if you have experienced trauma in your life around a child being abducted, and or murdered this book is not for you! Also if you are sensitive to this type of storyline, this book does contain graphic details and may be upsetting to some readers.

I loved the characters, they seemed real to life, and their vulnerability was palpable. One thing that irked me was the relationship between Garrett and Jordan, come on people admit you love each other still and get on with living! Enough said. If you like a good romantic suspense and you want to be sleep deprived of a night or two, absolutely pick this book up, you will be hooked on the first page.
