From the Back:

Callie Hoffman has a good life in Kingdom, Kansas. She's engaged to Levi Housler, the new pastor of Kingdom Mennonite Church, and she spends her days working with Lizzie Housler, her friend and soon-to-be sister-in-law, at the town cafe.

When a body is discovered on the road outside Kingdom and the deceased turns out to be the victim of a serial killer, the new county sheriff begins questioning Kingdom residents. Unsettled at the prospect of a killer in Kingdom, Callie is desperate to find answers for herself, especially when her own fiance seems to know more about the murder than he's telling.

As the town battles an entirely unforeseen danger and Callie's very life is threatened, the stakes are as high as they've ever been and the people of Kingdom must learn anew to put their trust in God alone.

My Reflections:

Nancy Mehl has done it again, with this third installment of her Road to Kingdom series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this suspense murder mystery, story line.

In this novel Callie Hoffman and Levi are engaged to be married, but before they actually tie the knot they both have issues they need to face. One of those issues being a serial killer on the loose in their peaceful little Mennonite town of Kingdom.

Mehl masterfully blends the two worlds of Christian fiction and suspense together to immerse the reader in complete and utter harmony. The writing and story line are complex and seamlessly merge the characters from previous books. I enjoyed the aspect of deepening my understanding of the characters and of course all the mystery surrounding the murdered women.

I think the thing I enjoyed most about the Kingdom series is the natural way Mehl creates her characters to wear flesh, and that is something her readers can relate to on a very personal level. Her writing is deep and any reader can glean personal insights through her dynamic writing capabilities.

I would think you could read this book as a stand alone, but honestly why would you? It would be beneficial to the reader to start on book one and work your way up to this third book, as it relies heavily on the knowledge of previous events.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to be lost in a great murder mystery!
