"Autism"

Hi, my name is ***** what do you think when you hear the word Autism? I think about Jovi my super poodle and, my best friend. As an Autistic parent or child, you can't believe everything Google says. like I googled Autism and this is the definition

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Controlautism affects an estimated 1 in 59 children in the United States today.

so I found out I am a 1 in 59 people with Autism. really I know a lot of people with Autism this must be outdated. Ok, I  am sure you get it. ya, can't believe EVERYTHING you hear. Especially about Autism. If you look something up about autism get ready to be hurt. Ok, next thing. I highlighted the words Disease because is it REALLY a disease? I like to think of Autism as a... Gift.

Book Review: Between Two Shores

From the back:

She Has Always Moved Between Worlds,
But Now She Must Choose a Side

The daughter of a Mohawk mother and French father in 1759 Montreal, Catherine Duval would rather remain neutral in a world tearing itself apart. Content to trade with both the French and the British, Catherine is pulled into the Seven Years' War against her wishes when her British ex-fiancé, Samuel Crane, is taken prisoner by her father. Samuel claims he has information that could help end the war, and he asks Catherine to help him escape.

Peace appeals to Catherine, even if helping the man who broke her heart does not. But New France is starving, and she and her loved ones may not survive another winter of conflict-induced famine. When the dangers of war arrive on her doorstep, Catherine and Samuel flee by river toward the epicentre of the battle between England and France. She and Samuel may impact history, but she fears the ultimate cost will be higher than she can bear.
My Reflections:
This novel was so unique, it was a complete surprise. Nothing like what I expected, yet so much more than I could have hoped for!

Set in Quebec in the year 1759, this book is rich with historical detail. You can tell Jocelyn Green has put a lot of time and effort into the research required to pen such a detailed, historically accurate novel.
Vivid prose and a strong heroine makes this read launch well from page one to the completion. Another aspect I adored about this novel is the very fact that Green does not paint the story with a rose coloured hue, it is factual and honestly raw, hence making readers experience a refreshing and intriguingly unique experience.

This story allows the reader to experience the struggles the early Canadian settlers and the native Indians had during the seven years French and Indian War. Catherine Duval is straddling both sides, not fully in either life, she must decide who she is and what she stands for to truly become the woman God intends her to become.
This story is steeped in identity, belonging, conflict and reconciliation. I can certainly identify with Catherine's struggles anger and disappointment with her identity and the process to become whole. It was truly a beautiful progression to the end. Well worth the read, and highly recommended.
It was a wonderfully complex, expertly written book and I am eager to read more from this authour in the near future.

Book Review: Free to Focus

From the Back:

Slay distractions, reduce your task list, and free yourself from interruptions

Everyone gets 168 hours a week, but it never feels like enough, does it? Work gobbles up the lion's share--many professionals work as much as 70 hours a week--leaving less and less margin for rest, exercise, family, and friends. If we're not careful, we can trade what matters most for a task list that grows longer by the day. What's the solution?

In Free to Focus, New York Times bestselling author Michael Hyatt reveals nine proven ways to win at work so you are finally free to succeed at the rest of life: your health, relationships, and more. He helps you

· redefine your work so it works for you
· filter your tasks and commitments
· cut out the nonessentials
· eliminate interruptions and distractions
· set boundaries that protect your focus and drive results
· leverage your time and energy for maximum productivity
· build momentum for a lifetime of success

Most people think productivity is about finding or saving time. But it's not. It's about making your time work for you. Just imagine having margin and free time again. It's not a pipe dream. You can be free to focus, starting today.
My Reflections:
As a small business owner time is always an issue. Have I done enough?, can I make this run more efficiently? How can I spend more time with my family?  Why don't I ever have enough time!? These are some of the questions that run through my head on a daily basis.
Our business has a seasonal aspect to it so being productively efficient is more important than ever in my life right now. Imagine my delight when I spotted this book. I didn't think twice, Yes, please!

The system is a part of a whole bigger network of books by this author. He has written other books that will complement this one, and help readers further their skills. Another resource this book offers is online supplemental material recommendations, apps you can use to focus, It also gives you the website where you can download templates. I found this very handy, and easy to navigate.

I was a little worried at first, unplug from work? how does one do that with a home-based business? I'm the only one running this show! The phone rings I had better answer that!
I was happily surprised by the s!simple framework, the easily manageable steps Michael Hyatt laid out. Will they be easy, no, are some of them achievable, absolutely! The affirming thing about this book was that I realized that I am already starting to incorporate some of the ideas presented here.
All in all, I was very happy to read this book and think it is a must for anyone wanting to reclaim more time, dedicated work focus and the desire to become a more efficient and happy business owner. I am eager to implement these ideas and am sharing this book with my husband and co-owner!

Book Review: Code Of Valor

From The Back:

She's living proof that what you don't know could kill you
What Detective Brady St. John really needs is a relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, just as the sun is setting on his second day at a friend's cabin on Lake Henley, he hears a scream and races to rescue a woman from her would-be killer. When the killer escapes only to return to finish the job, Brady vows to utilize all of his many resources to keep her safe--and catch those who would see her dead.

Financial crimes investigator Emily Chastain doesn't trust many people. And even though she's trying to cooperate with the detective who saved her life, there are some things she doesn't know--and some things you just don't share with a stranger. Little does she suspect that what she doesn't know just might get them both killed.
My Reflections:
Get ready for the adrenaline to stream through your veins. This book is full on from page one to 327. I Love that all the books intertwine with each other, bringing a cohesive blend to this series. This being book number 3 in the Blue Justice storyline, and every bit as good as the other two. I would highly recommend that you go out and start with book one, "Oath of Honour" then continue on to book two "Called to Protect." You seriously will not regret it!
The characters in all these books will become like family for the short time you are engaged in their lives, I say short because you will most likely devour the books so rapidly that you literally want to write Lynette Eason and beg her to hurry up on the next installment!
I really enjoyed the intense bond Emily Chastain and Detective Brady St. John share, it happens rapidly, and though I'm sure it must be against some law enforcement rule, it works well for this fast-paced novel. This does seem to be a pattern for Brady, his family cautions him, along with close friends, but he dives head first and falls hard while maintaining a mostly professional distance..umm until he kisses her. Ok, so there you have it though this is not a realistic storyline I loved it, and want more!
If you are looking for a fantastic Romantic suspense look no farther, this series is it. Now, let's hope Lynette Eason hurries up and releases book 4.
